The A-Team

Ah, sweet childhood memories!

Seriously, who didn't grew up with "The A-Team"? Watching an "The A-Team" episode was always an adventure, the next day I would always talked about with my friends, how 'neat' it all was. Everybody loved "The A-Team"!

However it is a completely ridicules series to watch these days of course. Basically ever episode is build up the same; Someone with trouble hires the A-Team, A-Team comes, A-Team kicks butt, A-Team builds something, A-Team saves the day. Also occasionally Murdock first has to escape from the mental hospital and B.A. has to be drugged because there are going to fly. There are lot of these repeating returning moments in "The A-Team". It's ridicules but somehow you never get tired of it.

Absolutely best thing are the characters. The four main persons are excellent on their own but even better when they were together. Especially Murdock and B.A. were at their best when they were together in a scene. Hannibal (George Peppard) is the leader and always the man with the plan, he sometimes disguises himself in silly looking costumes. Put a pillow beneath his shirt, give him a fake mustache and a big fat cigar and voilà, he is a businessman. B.A. (Mr. T) is the strong almost indestructible man with his trademark golden chains and his fear of flying and his love for milk. Face (Dirk Benedict) is the ladies man who often uses his charm as his weapon. Murdock (Dwight Schultz) is the crazy fool and the pilot of the bunch. Every character has his own specialty, it's simple but works effective for a TV-series like this.

The action was also often the same, all of the car chases were always filmed at the same way and it was extremely obvious at times that they used puppets during certain stunts. Also it was amazing to see how everybody always survived the biggest crashes and explosions.

Always one of the highlights of an episode was when our hero's were building something. They build some most amazing things at times such as tanks. Like "MacGyver", all they ever needed was a pack of bubblegum, some duct tape and a screwdriver.

It is too bad that the final season was a disgrace. Sure it had the wonderful Robert Vaughn always in a fairly large role but the fun element was really gone in the last season. Often the stories were extremely ridicules even for "The A-Team" standards and it simply was not fun or enjoyable to watch. Also the final episode was an huge disappointment. Basically is was just a standard episode like any other from season 5 without anything special that would indicate that this was the final episode.

Still I will always have fond memories of "The A-Team" and I often watch the re-runs. I think I have seen every single episode at least three times now but it just is something you'll never grow tired of.

The Greatest TV Series For Men

The A Team is about four army fugitives on the run from the US Government for over 10 years for a crime they did not commit. All of them had their own unique ability.

The leader of the group. Colonel John ( Hannibal ) Smith GEORGE PEPPARD. A great planner and disguiser.

Next Lt Templeton ( Faceman ) Peck DIRK BENEDICT. A Conman. He can basically get you anything you need, scammer a con artist with good looks.

Sgt B. A Baracus MR T. A mechanical genius, ruthless and can square upto anyone. He is the muscle in the team and wears gold jewellery.

Finally Captain H. M Murdock. Dwight Schultz. The only one who is not wanted by the USArmy as he was declared insane. He was the teams pilot in the war. He lives in a mental institution and escapes when ever the team need his help.

These four gents weekly entertained our screens for almost 5 years. Such a shame it came to an end. Would of been perfect if they had some closure at the end.

All I can say is...

It's too bad George Peppard smoked so much. He might have lived a bit longer. Although he was never an A class actor, I always enjoyed watching him in action films as well as his many visits with Johnny Carson on the Tonight Show.

Peppard died way too young...

The A-Team just rules

Ok as an Army veteran myself, I got into this show because of the movie and I admit I really got into this show quickly. I love this group bc I met my share of guys who are just as crazy and dedicated. Hannibal is the brains and the leader shows he's confident in what he does, Face is the con man who shows the con in confidence, BA is the muscle which Mr. T does well, and most importantly my favorite character Murdock who is clinically insane but shows that insanity makes him excel as a character and excel in his job. The stories keep getting interesting and four seasons is a big surprise to me especially when it is just very entertaining. Watch the classic show before the movie, it's that good.

If you have a problem... if no one else can help... and if you can find them

Maybe you can hire.... THE A-TEAM!

This may well be the ultimate 80s action TV series. It has... well... great action, great plots, great soundtrack and lets not forget the superb cast. Many of the 80s TV series nowadays have one problem: They are way too cheesy and outdated. Not the A-Team, here the action and characters still work.

The A-Team of course is still very 80s BUT: There are no foolish stunts and plots with huge black holes in them as in Knight Rider, no totally outdated cold war scenario as in Airwolf.

A-TEAM still works! WATCH IT!

Pure '80's action bliss

"If you have a problem, if nobody else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire The A-Team". Just thinking of those memorable words, brings back fond memories of the best action show of the '80's.George Peppard as "Hannibal", Dirk Benedict as "Face", Dwight Schultz as Murdock and especially Mr. T as "B.A." Baracus as do-gooding framed Vietnam vets. There was of course a 5th main cast member: The Teams Van itself. Man I loved that vehicle as a kid. Stephen J. Cannell seemed to have the Midas touch in the 1980's For younger people who don't know who Cannell was, he's like J.J. Abrams is today, but cooler. Yup for action, explosions, and more action and explosions, there's just no substitute for The A-Team

Genius team with good plans for good causes

I remember that I started watching "The A-Team" in my childhood, as "The A-Team" actually began to be aired on television, and appreciated "The A-Team" right from the start.

Based on a true story and, most of all, defending globally good causes, "The A-Team" features epic main characters - each one with own unique personality, competences, specialities and touch of craziness - that complete themselves well in the whole and also manage to come up with brilliant and spectacular plans together.

Every episode is a surprise, since "The A-Team" is actually more a one specific theme per episode adventure rather than a continuous story, while there is always the original story thread that follows and unites them along their way and destiny.

Although acts of violence always remain objectionable, in this context, there is no gratuitous violence from "The A-Team", only justified necessary self-defense to render justice when and where the corrupt authorities don't properly do the job for which these same authorities are concretely fraudulently and scandalously paid for by the organized racketeering and the organized theft of the society, and that's exactly here that "The A-Team" takes all its sense and its legitimacy : fighting for true justice.

Some episodes are more intense, interesting and spectacular than others and also some supporting roles casting choices are more or less criticable, but everyone will freely appreciate.

So, watch "The A-Team" and enjoy.

I agree with the review

I totally agree with Schuman's review of the show but I did like it without the girls in it I like that guys can be guys and guys together having their own show without some girl being in it. It was a cute and yet action-packed show.
